The Ocean’s rigther of wrongs comes to Paris ! Paul Watson, founder of the SEA SHEPHERD CONSERVATION SOCIETY, will be coming to Planète Durable. Perfect timing, as the Grenelle of the Sea has just been launched. When he is not at sea, he tours the world giving conferences.

The real sustainable consumption numbers : The website Mes courses pour la Planète will release during the exhibition, the results for sustainable consumption in 2008. Not surprisingly, organic products, ethical commerce, renewable energies and other sustainable products and services will show some clear increase in number ! Wonderful news- let’s enjoy it !

Planète Durable, a sustainable exhibition. Aware of the environmental impact their exhibition will induce, the organizers of the salon Planete Durable® will continue to adopt, in its conception and communication, an exemplary lead in terms of environmental impact. The 1st edition allowed to implement innovative and environmental friendly solutions – examples: floor carpet rental agreement for entrance and animation areas, recyclable carpet for stands and partial cover for the walkways, wooden partitions, exhibitor guide on line only (no printed version), marketing documents printed on FSC labeled paper and fully carbon offset, waste management…
This initiative is communicated to other exhibitions and similar types of events and inspire them so that they review their own impact of the environment…. Planète Durable ‘s highest ambition.

For this purpose, our 10 commitments (in French) will group together the measures that Planete Durable® intends to apply to the best of its capabilities. Exhibitions are not by definition very “sustainable”; finding innovative solutions seems essential.

Planète Durable: an eco-designed event. The 1st prize of the "Trophées Expocréa" for best fair creation in 2008 has been granted to Planete Durable last November, highlighting the écodesign, the quality and the image of the fair.
Our aim is to go further for its 2nd edition. That’s why we asked Dominique Velasco, scenographer and expert in events and fairs, to implement a decoration mixing design and emotion, while reducing the environmental impact of the choices made in terms of materials and accessories. Come and see the ecological kitchen of the 21st century! For the first time in France, Whirlpool will unveal the environmental friendly kitchen project we will soon be using: the GREEN KITCHEN.
It allows to save up to 70 % energy versus a classical kitchen equipment, and recycles the energies produced in order to limit water and heat losses.
A wide range of home appliances will be put on the market as from mid 2009: GREEN GENERATION.

Planète Durable : An event in the heart of the "sustainability week". Organised each year from April 1 to 7 by the Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable development and Spatial Planning, the "sustainability week" will be focused this year on sustainable consumption. Taking advantage of the ministry official support, Planete Durable will be part of the national events of this week, key to promote better social and environmental quality products and services. Reflecting this new consumption and pedagogical event for adults and kids, Planete Durable will gather companies, NGO and institutions.

Some of the latest confirmed 2009 exhibitors: already exhibitors at the 1st edition of Planète Durable, Alliance Carton Nature, Club Développement Durable de l'Ordre des Experts Comptables, Ecover, Ekyog, Gaz de France, Groupe Lea Nature, Lush, Nature & Découvertes, PEFC, Renapur, Solar Diffusion, Weleda have already confirmed their presence for the 2nd edition next April 2009.
Botanic, one of the first eco-engaged home & garden network, is joining Planète Durable exhibition next year presenting the new product range and its « pact for a new lifestyle ». Many more exhibitors currently reviewed by the Ethical Committee will be announced soon.

New : Radio France Group becomes a Media Partner: each radio station of Radio France Group (france inter, france infos, france bleu, france culture, france musique, FIP, Le Mouv’) will contribute to the strong media presence of Planète Durable exhibition towards a large public. There are current discussions about welcoming and recording radio shows at the Planète Durable exhibition.

Gaz de France Dolce Vita Official Partner for 2009 exhibition: 1st independent power producer in the world with renewable energies representing 70% of the Group’s energy mix, Gaz de France Suez proposes Gaz de France Dolce Vita offer to the private consumer : home energy individual audit allowing energy savings by associating both gaz and renewable energies usage.
Major Partner for the 1st edition of Planète Durable, Gaz de France Suez will participate in its 2nd edition as Official Partner and will welcome visitors on its stand answering questions about home energy solutions.

The carbon footprint developed by our partner Ernst & Young shows a 18% reduction in CO2 emission compared with a non optimized exhibition. Usage of recycled paper, rented floor carpet and waste management solutions are the main contributors – the key results are detailed here (in french).

A new floor map was adopted allowing high visibility of exhibitors offers as well as an attractive journey for the visitors. This floor map organizes exhibitors without systematically placing them based on their activity or products presented; this choice allows visitors to walk through the exhibition without restrictions and provides opportunities to be surprised.
Animation spaces in the hall will also entertain visitors.

In order to reduce the exhibition environmental impact, the FFME (French Federation of Exhibition and Events Companies) and Planète Durable join their efforts and expertise in order to develop innovative and more sustainable technical solutions applied specifically to carpet, stand, lighting or furniture.
New technical choices will be applied in the first edition and reinforce the following years, evaluated thru the carbon footprint analysis.
